Overall Aims:

  • Use simple compass directions (North, South, East and West) and locational and directional language [for example, near and far; left and right], to describe the location of features and routes on a map
  • Use basic geographical vocabulary to refer to: key physical features, including: beach, cliff, coast, forest, hill, mountain, sea, ocean, river, soil, valley, vegetation, season and weather
  • key human features, including: city, town, village, factory, farm, house, office, port, harbour and shop

Comparing satellite images and ordinance survey maps to look at the development of Whitehall and Downing Street.

  1. Use the new LGFL App maker with some of the photos and maps in this resource to describe a journey down the river from Hampton in the West to Rainham Marshes in the East. You will need to mention the River Thames, the City of London and the Port of London (docks) in your description.
